While some programs can cost more than studying on campus, there are many where you will pay the same or less than a semester at Beloit College. In fact, 50% of students who went abroad over the past three years reported that their costs were the same or less than studying on campus.

It’s the living costs that can vary. Your housing and meals on campus in 2025-26 will cost $6,054 per semester. You can use that as your baseline to compare the costs of housing, meals and airfare abroad to studying on campus. Additional expenses can include the cost of a visa, health insurance, and personal expenses, which can vary but are minor compared to living costs.
There are also many scholarships available to lower costs, including the Exchange Student Scholarship, given to all participants in exchange programs. Further, the Betsy Brewer Award helps replace lost income from work study or your off-campus job, which is another concern for students.
